Union Budget 2018: All 13 Schemes Explained
Union Finance minister Shri Arun jaitley presented union
budget 2018-19 on 1st Feb, 2018. The aim of this year’s budget is to
improve the life of farmers and poor. Here we’ll cover all new schemes
launched under this year’s budget. The aim of this article is to provide you
the glimpses of all the 13 schemes in layman’s terms.
OPERATION GREEN
·
Sole purpose is to double the income of farmers
by the end of 2022.
·
Money allocated to the scheme is 500 Cr.
·
Target is to stop fluctuation in the prices of
onion, tomatoes and potato.
AAYUSHMAN BHARAT SCHEME
·
It’s a National Health protection scheme.
·
Covering 10 Crore families or 50 Crore
population, with 5 lakh insurance per family per year.
·
Estimated cost for this scheme is 12,000 crore,
where cost implementation responsibility is share on a 60:40 basic, between
center and state government.
·
The scheme would ensure 1 Medical college in 3 Parliamentary
constituency and 1 Government medical college in each state.
KIFAYATI BHATAT SCHEME
·
The scheme aims to create a dedicated affordable housing fund in National Housing Bank.
·
Government is aiming to
provide home facility to everyone by the end of 2022.
·
The project is to construct
more than 1 Crore households in the rural areas.
GOBAR-DHAN SCHEME
·
Here GOBAR stands for Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resource Fund.
·
The aim is to improve living standards of villagers by managing and converting cattle dung and solid waste in
farm to compost.
·
This scheme works as a source
of income to farmers.
REVITALISING INFRACTURE AND SCHEME IN EDUCATION
·
Also known as RISE, is a new concept launched
for the education system.
·
The expected investment is 1 lakh crore for
next four years.
·
The aim is to open new school for scheduled
tribe population as well as promoting program for teachers.
PRIME MINISTER FELLOWSHIP SCHEME
·
The scheme favors B.Tech students, under which
1000 students will be given opportunity to do Ph.D in IIT and IISc.

· Digital intensity across the country in the field of education is also expected to go high under the scheme.
EXPANSION OF UJJWALA SCHEME
·
The aim is to provide free LPG connection to
the poor families.
·
The aim is approved with an additional target
to reach 8 crore people with an additional allocation of 4,800 Crore.
EXPANSION OF PM PM VAYA VANDANA SCHEME
·
The scheme worked to provide regular
pension for senior citizens
·
Following are the changes: Investment extended
to 2020 and investment limit is also extended to 15 Lakh from 7.5 Lakh per
person.
EXPANSION OF UDAN SCHEME
·
The aim is to make air tickets cheaper so that
common people can fly too.
·
10 major tourist destinations are planned, where airport will be constructed.
EKLAVYA SCHOOL
·
Another branch of Navodhya School is going to
open for Scheduled caste students by 2022.
·
The school will be will be set up in each Block having more than 50 percent tribal areas
and 20,000 tribal people.
·
Along with other facilities,
there will also be a special facility to promote local art and culture.
NATIONAL BAMBOO MISSION
·
As the name suggest, the scheme is to promote
the development of bamboo production as an industry.
·
An amount of Rs. 1,290 crore will be allocated under this scheme.
SAUBHAGYA SCHEME
·
The ambition of this plan is to increase the
number of power connection in rural areas to 40 million thousand.
·
The expected amount to be spent for this
scheme is 16 Crore.
KISAN CREDIT CARD TO FISHERMEN
·
A same card with same facilities will now be
given to fishermen and cattle owners.
·
This will make enable them to
avail the easier loans.
·
Apart from this, financial
assistance will also be provided to fishermen.
